Speaker

Arpine Manukyan

Arpine Manukyan is an Armenian wine professional and winemaker based in Yerevan. Originally trained as a linguist, she made a decisive career shift in 2014 to pursue winemaking, a move she describes as “one of the most meaningful decisions of my life, because it allowed me to follow my true passion.”

She was the first person in Armenia to achieve the WSET Diploma and Weinakademiker qualifications, and later completed a Master’s Degree in Oenology at Geisenheim University in Germany. Alongside her academic studies, Arpine gained hands-on experience during harvests in Italy, Germany, Argentina, and the USA.

Arpine is the founder of Armenian Wine School, Armenia’s first WSET Approved Programme Provider, and has played a key role in developing professional wine education in the country.

She has spoken openly about the gender-based challenges faced by women in the wine industry, viewing resilience as essential to progress: “I want to demonstrate that women have the expertise, discipline, and passion to excel in every aspect of winemaking.”

Today, Arpine is pursuing the Master of Wine qualification while working towards creating her own wines in Armenia, with a focus on elegance, precision, and clear expression of the country’s extraordinary terroir.
