Join winemaker Faouzi Issa and Master of Wine Mike Best to explore the wines of Domaine des Tourelles, one of Lebanon’s most historic and esteemed producers. Dialling in from Bekaa Valley, Faouzi will share insights, stories and explain the winemaking decisions, whilst Mike will join us in person, offering his expert take on each of the wines.
The flight will include Domaine des Tourelles’ range of rosé, white, skin contact and red wines, plus a very special bottle with over 15 years of age, not available in the UK.
Come along to discover the breadth and quality of a pioneering winery that has kept Lebanon firmly on the wine map for over 150 years.

Intermediate: An in-depth exploration of a particular topic. Some prior knowledge is beneficial – such as a WSET Level 2 qualification – but these sessions will be enjoyable and educational for anyone with an interest in the subject.
About the speakers
Faouzi Issa is the Managing Director and head winemaker at Domaine des Tourelles, located in Lebanon’s historic Bekaa Valley. The winery was established in 1868 by Frenchman François-Eugène Brun, and is today co-owned by Faouzi’s family and the Issa El-Khoury family, who acquired it from the Brun family following the passing of Pierre Brun, the third generation of the family.
Faouzi studied agricultural engineering at the American University of Beirut before heading to France to study winemaking at SupAgro de Montpellier. His journey continued through hands-on experience at two of France’s most prestigious estates: Domaine Rostaing in Côte Rôtie and Château Margaux in Bordeaux.
He returned to Lebanon in 2008 to take the reins at Domaine des Tourelles. Under his leadership, the winery has earned international acclaim - its wines now winning awards and exported to over 20 countries.
Expanding exports has been central to the winery’s resilience and growth, especially amid the economic and political challenges Lebanon has faced in recent years.
Mike Best is a Master of Wine, working as a trade buyer, a wine judge and educator. Mike works in the buying team for Boutinot and is responsible for a number of areas including California, Spain and Lebanon. He passed the WSET Diploma in 2014 and became a Master of Wine in August 2020.
On top of his Boutinot responsibilities, Mike is a wine judge at competitions such as Decanter, IWC and the London Wine Competition. He also teaches WSET Diploma when time allows. Mike is also responsible for the Stage 1 MW seminar in Europe and is actively involved with Henners, an English winery owned by Boutinot. Read our Q&A with Mike.

Payment in full must be made at the time of booking and places are not confirmed until payment has been received. Unfortunately we cannot take provisional bookings.
Cancellations and transfers
- Cancellations and transfers can be made up to two weeks before the event.
- Cancellations within 10 working days are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another event.
- If you need to change a name on the booking, please give us as much notice as possible.
- WSET School London reserves the right to cancel an event. If necessary, a full refund or transfer will be offered.
