Join author of 'The South America Wine Guide' and Master of Wine Amanda Barnes to delve into one of the wine world’s best-kept secrets - Uruguay.
Event details
Often overshadowed by its larger neighbours, Uruguay is quietly producing some of the most exciting and distinctive wines in South America today. From its flagship Tannat to coastal Albariño, rare varieties such as Manseng Noir or distinctive orange wines, Uruguay offers remarkable diversity for such a small country.
An expert in the wines of South America, Amanda Barnes MW will guide us through a selection of wines that showcase Uruguay’s distinctive microclimates, grape varieties and winemaking styles. Drawing on over a decade of research and travel across the region, Amanda will share her insights into Uruguay’s wine evolution, sustainability initiatives, and the stories behind its rising-star producers.
This is a rare opportunity to taste and learn about Uruguayan wines in depth, and an essential session for anyone seeking to broaden their understanding of the South American wine landscape.
Wines will be accompanied by cheeses from La Fromagerie.
