Join Iris Fabre DipWSET to explore the connection between wine and classic works of literature, fine art and ancient history.

Event details

September marks back-to-school season the perfect time to open both books and bottles.

In the first of this two-part series, Iris Fabre DipWSET will take you on a journey exploring wine’s associations with intellectual prestige, and whether these connections have contributed to the closed and snobbish reputation of wine.

From Dionysus to Epicureanism, you’ll learn about wine’s roots in culture and philosophy, as well as how it has been depicted in the arts over centuries.

You'll enjoy the wines paired with a selection of fine cheeses from La Fromagerie.

This session is ideal for curious beginners and anyone who’s ever wanted to quote Shakespeare over a glass of Madeira.

If you’d prefer to look at memes over Marcel Proust, or Gary Barlow over Gaugin, click here to buy a ticket to the second part of the series, Lowbrow wine school.

Wine list coming soon... Drinks will include Roman-inspired wine, a Champagne, a fortified wine, a Tokaji and a Bordeaux or Burgundy Cru.

Tasting level

Beginner: No prior knowledge required, only enthusiasm! Perfect if you want to try something new, brush up on the basics, or taste some delicious drinks.
